The mini twins played on the beach and waved at their grandmother. Mom is missing her Friday twin-fix. She's been spending every Friday with the twins since they were a few months old.
We've enjoyed her dispatches chronicling the latest in the wonder twins' development.
From an August 19, 2008 email:
...My most fun endeavor, the twins, (Rug-rat Life; S & D, Photo Credit: ©W. Chung) will be in college when you next see them. S is speaking in short sentences and D can operate anything mechanical. For some reason S has been picking up books of her older sisters, print only and no pictures, and browsing. But that's not the funny part--she brought me one and resigned to her current taste for once and not persuading her to get another, I took it and started to read. She looked at me w/ her you dummy expression and said, "Popo, need glasses." She's become aware of me looking for my glasses whenever there's small print!
One day she came up behind me, poking her little finger on one of my vericose veins, sympathetically saying "owhee." I started to give her a long explanation on the distinction between new and old hurts when before I knew it she was giving the vein a kiss! The two converse and play act a lot, laughing at their private jokes.
Last week, S was guiding D into this spot beside the piano. The only word I could catch was "Times," w/ D going along stiffly but w/ chuckles. I peeked over and asked them, "Are you doing timeout?" They nodded happily. "What did she do?" Lifting a finger, "Bite!" Then they both roared!
